MOET develops its Eco-School credentials

The irrigation system at MOET which supports year-round vegetable production has resulted in an unexpected bonus: a small pond has developed, and with careful management and monitoring it has grown into the perfect environment for fish farming. The fish harvest takes place every six weeks and provides a useful lesson in aquaculture, alongside the permaculture practices which are firmly embedded in the curriculum.

The solar power facility which was installed by Voltalia last year has significantly reduced the school’s electricity costs. Previously, MOET faced frequent electricity interruptions during lessons and power outages which affected its irrigation and water pumping provision. During this time the school had relied upon expensive diesel generators during blackouts.
