What is a Privacy Notice?

A privacy notice is a statement that discloses some or all of the ways in which FOMOE gathers, uses, discloses and manages Donor’s personal data. It fulfils a legal requirement to protect a Donor’s privacy.

Why do we need one?

To ensure compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), FOMOE must ensure that information is provided to donors about how their personal data is processed in a manner which is concise, transparent, intelligible, easily accessible and written in clear and plain language, free of charge.

 

What is GDPR?

GDPR replaces the Data Protection Act and is designed to harmonise data privacy law across Europe to protect and empower all EU citizens data privacy and to re-shape the way in which organisations across the region approach Data privacy. It comes in to effect on 25th May 2018.

 

What is Personal data and what do we collect about you?

GDPR defines personal data as:

“any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (‘data subject’); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person”.

In other words such data as your name, address, phone number and email address.

 

Communicating our Privacy notice?

Our Privacy notice is displayed on www.fomoe.org and FOMOE trustees and (volunteers) are responsible for ensuring that all potential data subjects have sight of this notice prior to the collection and/or processing of their personal data by FOMOE.

 

How do we use your information?

FOMOE will use the personal data collected from you for providing newsletters and for updating information relating to sponsored Secondary and Tertiary pupils. It will also be used for processing Gift Aid forms and running the Secondary and Tertiary education sponsorship programs.

FOMOE will process your data (i.e. collect, store and use) according to the requirements of the GDPR at all times and will endeavor to keep it up-to-date, ensuring its accuracy and will not keep it for longer than it is required. In some situations, there are set legal requirements for the length of time that FOMOE will retain your personal data but usually FOMOE will use its discretion, ensuring that personal data is not kept outside of our usual business requirements.

Opt-Outs

Consents – You may withdraw your consent for us to send you Newsletters or Pupil updates by emailing: fomoe.legal@gmail.com at any time.
Data Deletion – should you wish for all data on you held by us to be deleted please email fomoe.legal@gmail.com. Data will be deleted as soon as no longer required by law.

Accessing Your Data Records

You have the right to access the information we hold about you and we can provide this free of charge. For a Subject Access Form please email fomoe.legal@gmail.com or write to FOMOE at the address at the top of this notice.
