MOET students are learning about the importance of having fruits at home and maintaining healthy eating habits. Bananas are a staple food in Malawi and provide essential nutrients such as potassium, vitamin C, vitamin B6, and fibre. They are also a good source of energy for breakfast and snacks.

In an effort to ensure the availability of nutritious food for children, a total of 50 banana plants were planted at MOET.

Apart from being an important food source, banana plants are highly versatile and can also be used for medicinal and craft purposes. The leaves are commonly used for wrapping food and making baskets, while the fibre can be used to make ropes and paper.
