Headmaster’s blog: Library proven to accelerate pupil progress at Moet

Recent media attention has been placed on the importance of libraries with the release of the film about Malawian engineer William Kamkwamba who taught himself how to build electric windmills after borrowing books from his school library.

Thanks to your kind donations, Moet is lucky enough to have a library. This is a facility which is missing in most government schools that are in the area and could lead to Moet children learning the same skills as “The boy who harnessed the wind. ”

A recent meeting of Primary Education Advisors ( PEAs) took place at the school where many remarked that library is making a real contribution to aiding the knowledge and the interest of the pupils who attend the school.

Teachers at MOET work hard to ensure that the library is a resource that is well-loved and cared for as well as helping the pupils to use the books in the best way possible.

Almost every day there is a reading lesson or a discussion involving the books we have there.

We would to extend our heartfelt appreciations  to those who send us books and learning materials for making us shine more.

The film about William Kamwkwamba’s amazing story is out now and he’s also written a book for everyone to enjoy.

Children enjoy a library lesson.
