FLOODS HIT MOET SCHOOL – JANUARY 2015

FLOODS HIT MOET SCHOOL – JANUARY 2015

On 8th January the river  close to MOET over-flooded and affected the school.  There was no harm to the children or loss of property as such, but Patterson reports that the school has suffered damages to the permaculture section and some of the fish in the breeding pond close to the vocational skills block were swept away.

One possible solution would be to dredge the river of mud to deepen it. Work on this can only really start when the water goes down.  This will have affected not only the school but villages both upstream and downstream between MOET and the hills and the lake as well as neighbouring land owners.  What would make sense would be create a community solution, getting a team of diggers together from all those lands which were affected.

We will update with any developments
