215 miles in 3 days and £1,500 raised for FOMOE

Many thanks to Andrew Fricker and Colin Chamberlain,  firm friends of our small charity, who managed to cycle from London to Paris in 3 days at the end of July this year. Through a combination and corporate and personal sponsorship (including using BTMy Donate) they raised a fantastic £1,500 between them.

Details of the ride:

Day 1 – London to Newhaven ferry – 75 miles and 1,800 ft of climb.

Route picks off Marble Arch, The Mall, Trafalgar Square, and milestone zero at Charing Cross before heading down the Wandle Trail, following some of the London-Brighton route and over the South downs.

Day 2 – Dieppe to La Houssoye – 75 miles and 1,700 ft climb

Having had no sleep on the ferry the next 35 miles is on the Avenue Verte – a paved over disused railway. then to open roads

Day 3 – La Houssoye to Paris – 75 miles and 2,400 ft climb

Quiet roads to Versailles then through forest tracks to Paris. Picking off Eiffel tower, Arc de Triomphe (2 laps just for fun), Champs Elysee (just like Mark Cavendish), Place de la Concorde and finishing at Notre dame and kilometre zero.
